SCORE was set up to assist registered social workers in England to successfully complete the renewal of the registration process. Many social workers, who work independently, find that they cannot meet the criteria for endorsement set out by the GSCC (see 'The registration process' page for full details). In particular this is likely to be:
In addition, people may have taken a career break, for example to study, travel, or raise a family. As long as they have maintained their professional development and good conduct it should be possible for them to register again as social workers. The model used by SCORE will assist these people who have not had continuity of employment (within a single organisation), to have their applications endorsed in a way that is approved by the GSCC. For most registered social workers their existing employers will be able to sign off their post-registration training and learning, and endorse their application for renewal of registration. SCORE aims to assist those social workers who do not have employers to do the endorsement for them. We will also assist the small number of senior managers who may not have access to people within their organisation able to endorse their applications. |
