As part of your professional development the GSCC expects you to have completed at least 90 hours of professional training and development (PRTL) over the last 3 years. Briefly this could include:
Full details of PRTL requirements can be found on the GSCC website. As part of the process of endorsement SCORE will need to verify that you have undertaken appropriate training related to your practice. To do this we will need to see not only the certificates, or details of PRTL activities, but also talk to you about what you have learnt. This forms the core of the interview with SCORE that you are required to attend to achieve the formal verification of your PRTL, as required by the GSCC, and our subsequent endorsement of your application. The second requirement is to confirm that you have not been subject to disciplinary action by an employer. We do this by sending an e.mail to each organisation that you have worked for in the past 3 years. Therefore we require an e.mail contact from you for each of these organisations. In exceptional circumstances we will contact people by post, but this may delay the completion of your application. Finally we need to confirm your good behaviour, and for that we need a referee who has known you personally since your last enhanced CRB check. This does not have to be an employer, but should be someone of good standing. This check is done by post, and as such we will need their name and address, and the basis on which they know you. We will also need details of your last CRB check. You do need to be totally open and honest with SCORE for us to be able to help you achieve the endorsement necessary for your registration. We understand that people sometimes have unusual or individual circumstances, and we are happy to work with you and the GSCC in processing your registration. If, however, we find information to be incomplete or misleading this undermines your position as a registered social worker and could lead to your name being removed from the register. |
